Land of 10,000 Lakes.

As the last days of summer approach, we found ourselves stricken with the desire to explore Minnesota. Our adventure took us to the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul which offer an endless array of outdoor activities, wineries and breweries boasting deliciously crafted beverages, as well as shopping at the largest mall in the USA, Mall of America. Minnesota’s 11,842 lakes offer more shoreline than Florida, California, and Hawaii combined.

We took advantage of the natural beauty and surrounding bodies of water by embarking on a hike at Minnehaha Falls which allowed us to take in the wonderful scenery. Minneapolis also offers breathtaking parks. During our time there, we were able to visit Mill Ruins Park, where we enjoyed views of the city, water, and Stone Arch Bridge. While making our way through Mill Ruins Park we stopped at the Guthrie Theater which featured unique architecture and is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. We also explored the amber box on the ninth floor which is cantilevered 15’ from the face of the building and provides a near 360-degree view.

What would a visit to Minneapolis be if we did not take the time to tour Paisley Park, the estate and production complex of world renowned artist and performer, Prince. We experienced first-hand what it was like for Prince to create, produce and perform inside this private sanctuary and view many of his instruments, awards and wardrobe.

We completed our trip with a visit to The Mall of America in Bloomington which is the size of 78 football fields. To give you an idea of how expansive this is, in the middle of the mall there is a seven-acre amusement park complete with roller coasters and log ride!

After our wonderful travels, we can say one thing with conviction; in the heart of the mid-west sits a beautiful place state with the combination of nature and city life making, admission is easy, just say U, believe and come 2 this place in your heart, Minnesota is a perfect ESCAPADITA.
