The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

Many of us know the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe as the backdrop for countless luncheons and galas, intimate dinners among friends or one of the most scenic backdrops for a wedding in San Diego, but we sometimes forget that the Inn is one of the most romantic places to stay in the country.

Rancho Santa Fe began over a century ago as a Mexican land grant given in gratitude to San Diego’s first alcalde, or mayor, Juan Osuna. In the 1900’s, the Osuna family sold 6,000 acres to the Santa Fe railroad to plant a Eucalyptus forest which proved unsuitable for railroad ties but perfect for today’s shaded groves. The town Rancho Santa Fe and the guesthouse for prospective land purchasers developed over time, and that original guest house evolved gracefully into The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

The heart of downtown Rancho Santa Fe is the Inn, whose Spanish Colonial Revival-style buildings sit upon 23 gorgeously landscaped acres of flowering gardens, lush lawns and winding pathways between cottages of beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites. Most rooms are located in charming cottage buildings around the grounds, topped with Spanish-tiled roof, vines and trellises.

Although surrounded by a variety of dining options in the Ranch, the signature restaurant is Inn Fusion visited by locals and visitors alike. The cuisine is a unique blending of ethnic influences taking full advantage of the bounty of the local harvest.

If you really feel the need to leave your cottage, golf is available at various nearby courses and there are three tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, croquet lawn and a fitness room on the property. During the thoroughbred racing season in Del Mar, The Inn has box seats and turf club passes available for guests.

Not only is the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe a perfect destination for those from out of town, it makes a perfect ESCAPADITA for all of us.
